The International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) has been
represented in Australia and New Zealand for over fifteen years.
Thanks to the pioneering work of Pat Crichton, national conferences (Jazz
Australia) and meetings of State representatives, have already taken place.
Despite the demise early in 2008 of the US-based International office of the IAJE, the local Australian chapters have continued their work unchanged, but with a renewed local focus.
"The mission of The International Association for Jazz Education is to
assure the continued worldwide growth of Jazz and Jazz Education...IAJE
initiates programs which nurture and promote the understanding and
appreciation of Jazz and its heritage"... To this end, it provides
leadership, resources and information to Jazz Educators.
